Week 21: Reading the Bible with Pastor Schultz & Gerhards's Sacred Meditations
David: Before and After
Reading through 2 Samuel and King David’s reign, it is hard not to notice a change in David after he sins against Uriah the Hittite, Bathsheba, his commanders and soldiers (He made the complicit in his deceit and murder), his other wives (check out Deuteronomy 17:14-20 to see what God thinks about this), and God himself.
Think about David and what we have read thus far. He is a great warrior; the people sing his praises. He is strong. He is strong. He rules his kingdom well on behalf of God. His family doesn’t seem to be an issue (although poor Michal suffers). He is a poet and a musician.
Notice the difference as you read ahead next week.
