The past few years, I have asked others to join me in reading a Proverb a day during the month of June. Why? Well, because if I want to have civic holidays on my Google calendar, I must have June marked as Pride Month.
On its face, Pride Month promotes a flaunting of God’s creation. It is opposed to the fear, love, and trust in God that the Scriptures call all humanity to. It exalts the words of the serpent, “Did God really say?”
God is transcendent — he is above all things. God has spoken to us in His Word which reveals the transcendent truth concerning Jesus Christ. He has come into the world in order to save the world from its sin because all mankind regardless of our personality, our sexual desires, our mental clarity, our skin color, or our sex are in need of salvation.
In order to fix our eyes on the Truth of God’s Word, I want to invite you to join me in the Psalm 119 and Proverbs challenge this June. Each day we will read 8 verses of Psalm 119 and one chapter of Proverbs.
When you read the Psalms, pray the psalms. Let your prayer be for what the Psalm is talking about. Let God’s Word apply to you.
When you read the Proverbs, pray that you would be wise and that you would see that the wisdom of God is Christ Jesus.
Whether you do this in the morning, noon, or evening, it doesn’t make much difference. Do what works best for you. Include your family. Include a friend. I’ll email readings out each morning. Use these emails. Or, just pick up your Bible and get after it on your own.
God loves you and He wants good things for you. His desire is that you would know Christ, repent of your sins, be restored to Him, and serve Him as your God. Trust in Christ and look to Him in the midst of the chaos.
